Azzurro String Quartet

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do you charge and how long do you play for?

Full details of charges are listed on our Contact & Rates page. The fee is dependent on the length, location and type of  booking.

Which parts of the ceremony can you provide music for?

We can play before the ceremony to get guests relaxed and in the mood: we recommend half an hour for this.

If you would like us to play during the ceremony we will discuss with you which pieces you would like us to perform (see our repertoire list).

After the ceremony  we can provide background music. This will involve playing  a selection of music to suit the particular occasion. Again, we can discuss with you what particular pieces you would like us to include.

How far in advance should we book your quartet?

We would encourage you to book as early as possible but preferably not more than 18 months in advance. Please do not hesitate to contact us at short notice also in case of a last minute cancellation.

How do we communicate with you?

Initially by phone or email, but email is our preferred choice of communication for finalising the details of the booking. Repertoire choices and special requests would need to be finalised at least one month prior to the event. We will confirm the booking by email, acknowledge receipt of the deposit and final payment and reconfirm all the details of the event.

How does the quartet dress?

We normally wear 'black with shades of blue' but can be flexible according to the type of occasion and especially if our outfits are likely to clash with your chosen colour scheme!

Are you willing to play outdoors?

The sound is not as good outside but if required we are happy to play in full shade or under a marquee or some other form of cover. Unfortunately, because the weather can adversely affect stringed musical instruments, we would not be able to play outdoors in the full sun or in rain or strong winds.

What do you require to perform?

We will need four  upright chairs (without arms) and ideally in an area minimum 8 by 8 foot square. Refreshments are always welcome but not essential.
